i would keep the factory oil pressure switch as its a back up if the gauge for some reason fails, you can goto enzed to get a t peice for the factory and after market sensor

The factory switch switches the light off at a few psi of oil pressure - therefore the idiot light is useless, by the time you see the light the bearings are already toast.

A gauge will show you oil surge, stuck relief valve etc & teach you how long it really takes to warm your car up...... A light won't.

Cheers,

And what about keeping the factory plug/sensor and connecting my gauge to the rear plug under tmic near turbo?

This would be the easiest plug to connect an oil temp or oil pressure gauge to IMO as you wouldn't need to get a T piece and remove the alternater "shudders at the thought"

Or is the rear spot no good for oil pressure?

Yes you could install the sensor under the tmic of you wanted to. Alternator is very very very easy to take out. If it takes you anymore than 10 mins to remove, your doing something wrong

dinski, that link is epic.

Has everything in great detail! I'm doing the triple gauge centre pod with three step motor gauges "only difference is I'm doing water temp not oil temp"

Massive help! Can't thank you enough.

And yep you can use the rear plug for oil pressure and or temp and leave the front factory plug sensor alone if you want.

Yep, was just a little consernd about removing the belt but after reading that above thread it doesn't look that hard.

In my case "FMIC" it's easier for me to use the rear plug.

Going to install the oil temp sensor and my question is would I need to flush the engine oil out before removing the plug or would it be ok with oil not flushed?
