I'm not saying you are purposely doing it, I am saying you can make it happen. As in someone with a scanner goes for a drive with you, with the CEL off, then get the old girl into 5th, CEL comes on and in my case, I would be able to pull the code right then.

For those interested, my code was Cam angle sensor A P03041. I think that’s what it was. Something like that anyway.

I doubt this would be your issue though. Sounds more like your shifter may be hitting some wiring or a connection plug, when moving the stick over into 5th maybe? The O2 sensor cable / plug or something like that? I cant think of any reason why you would get a CEL going into a gear?

I honestly have no clue why its doing it, i'll be booking it in with dougie soon enough for a full service and to get him to check it out for me. However, in the meantime anyone SoR (not as far as mandurah) free today, would be great =P

Cheers guys

I would offer to help you mate with my ECU data scan, but I am away at work at the moment, so it’s a bit hard.

I can help you out in 10 days though if you can wait that long? Or if you dont resolve the issue by then.

I think workshop time is the only solution, clearing the code is not fixing the problem.

CEL's shouldn't just disappear....

The light on the dash goes off, but the code is stored for later retrieval.

I'd recommend seeing a Subaru dealer to read the code with their scanner.

(Or do you have an aftermarket ECU? - If so, ignore and see your tuner.)

This is what I was led to believe too, with the "history codes". The reason I tried to explain myself so much in a previous post was due to the fact, as stated in there, Subaru could not get a code, with the CEL light up on the dash, if I had turned the car off and back on again.

They could also not get any history codes from it. Well thats what they told me anyway. I was told I had a MAF issue and a Brant issue, by that dealership.

I did not test the MAF but Mao did do testing on the Brant and it was not that. We then got the code when the car acted up on the dyno. We did not turn the car off, left it doing its silly idle thing, plugged in the scanner and got the code P03041 (or something like it) It was Cam sensor A position error.

Issue resolved which was contributed to either a faulty sensor or a bad wiring conection, or both.
