Hey all,

I own a 1997 MY98 WRX GC8 and in the wet my car seems to slide out... ALOT!

It only ever happens when i'm turning right, no matter what speed i'm going, and even if im not accelerating.

Now my ABS light on my dash has been on since i bought the car back in august so what im asking is what could be causing my car to slide out whilst turning right, could it be the fact that my ABS isn't working or the light is on?

At the back drivers side tyre every so often i hear an air noise, could it be possible i have a leak or something causing something?

Any information would be well appreciated.

get an alignment, and check the runout on those hub bearings.

understeer or oversteer?

Clarkie mine is the same - but I know its my rubber. Turned sharp right on a roundabout today in the wet - car just went straight.

+1 for alignment and checkup by reputable suspension workshop.

ie wheels world or wilkinsons

Good rubber helps too! Ie bridgestone or yokohama.


Personally I'd say take it in for a basic alignment at Wheels World in Osbourne Park, and have a chat with John there. He really knows his stuff and will point you in the right direction for the best setup for your needs.

Alot of oversteer, fronts have 80% rear have 40% i can occasionally hear a warping noise aswell whilst driving in a straight line,

I fail to see the problem with oversteer.

Good idea to get the warping noise checked out by a workshop, plenty here to choose from.

wheel alignment/new tyres might help with the oversteer, sounds a bit strange though as awd cars tend to have an understeer bias unless they have suspension mods to bring on some oversteer

If its oversteer then take your boot out of it. Will come.straight.
