Default Boost cut

Hi all,

I am trying to chase a wierd issue with my boost cut in my Subaru.

Current setup
-stock JDM ecu (yes its an aussie rs, but when a stock motor was put back in it all they had was a jap ecu to use)
- stock turbo
-profec b ebc

Boost cut on this is just over 1 bar.

To get around this, people fit a one way valve to the Subaru sensor so it tricks it into seeing less boost. Car had one when I got it, didnt work, so put another one in, didnt work.

Have no bypassed the Subaru shit completely so it shouldnt be seeing any boost.

Ebc was setup from scratch, have set them up before so I am sure that it is right.

Still though, wind anything more than 1 bar into it and you get the dreaded stutter.

Is there someting I am missing? Since the Vf12 is a fucking small thing I wanted to put maybe 1.2 bar into it to give it a little more go.

Ideas, thoughts guys? Both Ludwig and Taylor have looked at it also to avoid my total mechanical retardation

Thanks.

Nah it's not spiking or the like. I'm only setting it 1.1. It's not getting surge. Just hitting cut.

The oem Ecu needs to see boost via the factory map sensor, if it doesn't it will go nuts when it expects boost but doesn't see any.

Is it throwing any codes?

We can try that ADM 16 bit ECU if you like TJ. That way we can plug in the ECU Data Scan and actually see what the ECU is seeing from all the sensors.

Better than the current 8-bit JDM ECU.

Thats exactly what I'm getting, and getting a a CEL at the same time. (but my boost is a bit higher), no surge of boost is felt, it just starts to come on nicely, and bang there's the cut. CEL code goes away after the ignition is turned off and on, but the CEL stays on until I reset it using the ecudata scanner. You can get the code before you turn the ignition off.

Except mine is an RS and doesn't do cels. It does codes but it shows the typic error code for no boost signal which is to be expected.

No boost signal is your issue.

'T' in a gated boost tee (like the turbosmart one) to the map sensor pressure line, set it to open @ 12 psi & your issue will be gone....The map will see 12 psi max.
