Wonder how hard it would be to source an unadulterated STI ecu and plug that in and get the open source tune done?

They may have stopped at 5600 rpm because the car had ran out of fuel?, may have been knocking , turbo could have over boosted. Who knows?.+ for Un touched sti ecu

I haven't been to Mao, and would go to him for work based on what I've seen in the forums. (again its 4 hrs to Perth for me) but Lane did a retune on my Ecutek for less than $300. I had issues with stalling at idle, Lane retuned and got rid of the stalling, and what sounded like a rotational idle, knock the boost back a bit from 22psi back to 20 (**s were reluctant to do) picked up a bit of extra Kw, torque was similar, also richened up the mix, as mine was running lean.

Also $1200 sounds like a new (ie not done before) tune, not a re-tune.

Yes, that is my bad. I didn't know retune will cost less than new tune. I called mms as a new customer to get the info on exactly what ecu tuning and exhaust they did on the STI.

What's with all the f***ing asterix?

Ask them to reflash your ecu back to the stock oem map and unlock it if you really want to ditch ecutek.
Kato likes this.

We are dealers of Ecutek in Singapore. Licensing agreements with ECUtek overseas has prevented us to intervene here.

Speak to MMS first as MMS and MRT are the ECUtek dealers and distributors here respectively. Best thing to do is to drive there and talk to them face to face. Somethings are hard to work with over the phone.

Will advise available options other than buying an ecu if all else fails.

The local ECUTEK tuner can return your ECU back to stock map
Once that's done, its unlocked and it will no longer have the ecutek tune and you are free to do with whatever you want

i can understand why mms did what they did
ecutek came along before opensource ecu tuning became widely available to joe public
please it was also their way of protecting IP - which is based on their "research", dyno time, etc

rightly or wrongly, its their brand or product and they can do whatever they want
