Really really dumb question....

What is the easier way to access the filter for cleaning, I assume you unclip the front half of the inner guard???

Guess so, and that would need the wheel off to do it. I reckon the bumper off is quicker? There's a separate part of the under tray directly under the filter, that might come out easier too. Don't need to worry about it for a few months yet

Bumper would be more time consuming to remove.
Should be able to get access to the filter by removing a few clips in the wheel well and under the front bumper (looks like it could be up to 10 ).
Would most likely require removing the wheel still.

I haven't done this before so I wouldn't take this as gospel.

Edit: Picture was taken from the 2008/2009 service manual but should be pretty much the same.

Bumper takes less than 5 mins to get off. 18 clips, undo the fog light connectors and you're done. Car doesn't need to go up on a jack, wheel can stay on

Not arguing against that, but I would prefer to take the lining off over the bumper if I hadn't done it before.

The pop off washers and the two clips at the front of the bumper (underside) would be my concerns.
First time I put the bumper back on I nearly broke those 2 mounts as I hadn't noticed that they folded up as the bumper was installed.

Then again, as you say, once you have taken it off, it is fairly straight forward and easy to do

UPDATED: Having lived with this mod for a few days now, I have actually noticed a DROP in acceleration at low/medium revs, with some hesitation around 3400rpm. Therefore, I will be returning back to the stock intake for now until I can get the exhaust & tune done. Getting quotes now for Race Torque ECUTEK and ASG Verso.

Yep - I just installed a used process west CAI, and did about an hour in the car to see if I could scale the MAF.

My fuel trims were maxed out in the B and D ranges, and my IAM was 0.5

In the end, my tuner (Eric @ Torqued Performance) is coming to the rescue and flicking over the correct MAF scaling.

Wise move indeed.

Wow! Thread revival! Didn't realise that I'd not updated this one.

After a few attempts (ASG had to modify their software to cope with the MAF) Sean got my CAI working. Been on for well over a year now. Very happy with it

I realise this over a year old now but was there a gain notwithstanding a tune was at least possible?
