Default Walbro intank fuel pump real or fake

Hi there guys

Can any1 help me,my brother and I we both have gc8 his is a my99 an my ones a
97...last year I got a walbro gss341 pump for my97 gc8 on ebay from some place in america when it arrived the box was plain brown box and at that time I didnt think anything of it til recently, my brother order a walbro gss342 pump from cjmotor in brisbane...the box had walbro written all over it in blue , anyway when he put the pump in his rexy there was a pretty loud humming buzz and compairing it with my 341 my pump was so quiet... Does that mean I got a fake walbro and will damage my ej cause im using a larger tomei arm 8265 turbo replacement from the td04 turbo? Is it normal for gss341 to be quiet? I just hope it hasnt been running lean in fuel an killing my engine.....

If you are running a tomei arm, a fake fuel pump would of killed the car by now

they're not the sort of thing to take apart & be able to put back together

key factors for fakes:

install instructions not in english
fuel sock supplied not compatible
pump wire provided with crimp connectors instead of plugs each end
pump not coated in oily residue

you should be asking your brother why his is noisy?

easy fix is to order a new pump (from reputatable seller) and end the stress...

fake fuel pump will work, just won't last as long

The Genuine fuel pumps are quieter arent they? Thought the fake ones are rattly and loud, where as the real ones just hum along.

Real walbros can be very loud, especially in summer. I had one on my Evo 8, thought it was my AYC pump playing up.

I've never heard mine in 6yrs, it came with a stubby holder type insulator and being a 342 it plugged straight in though I did have to use my old sock.
