Here's what I'll do:

1) Get some good rubber. Doesn't have to be semi-slicks, even good sports tyres (Re002, KU31 or KU39) will do, from an economical point of view.
2) Get chamber bolts for the fronts and wheel alignment so that you'll get a nice even thread wear and more grip at the tracks
3) Get track orientated brake pads and high temperature brake fluids
4) HIT THEM TRACKS!

Forget about mods, save the money for all the entrance fees that you'll be blowing on, as well as routine maintenance of the car (oil change, brake fluids bleed). And most importantly, have fun and learn!
207 de and RUSSGT like this.

Good post. Assuming your stuck with a sound 06, add to the above list some basic adjustable suspension and in time, a re-flash and good exhaust and you will have a competent all round package. Its not going to match the pro cars but you will have fun!

Flawless reply Joe, EVO 6 would be my personal choice.

Failing that, get all the STi parts for an 06 and put them in your WRX.

Or buy my '06 STI which is basically ready to go as a (uncaged) track car.

Have you done many/any events yet? If I were you, I would drive your stock WRX in any event you can enter, eg: Wanneroo, Collie, AHG/RAC events, motorkhanas, Rallysprint events at the Motorplex, maybe one or 2 gravel Autocrosses or something. After a few events, see which you enjoy the most, and know what to mod on your car or buy another car that is best suited to your chosen events/budget/aspirations.

As per Waverly, seat time and learning how to drive on a track is most important, and most gains are made here.

Don't bother with the subaru if you want to win

Evo is were its all at these days for track / race cars. Just ask Matt at AutoPro Canning Vale for a ride in the left seat and you will be amazed on how these go compared to Subaru.

Bad side squeaky brakes
