Leave car stock.

Take it to the track/skidpan. Get a feel for the car and what you want to improve. So much will be going on with your senses as it is.

Change the brake pads, upgrade rear sway bar (as an option get some R comp tyres).

Go back to the track and get a feel for it again. Straight up you'll experience better turn, more grip, increased corner speed. Your driving will improve and you'll get smoother. Smooth tracking a car will get you faster lap times than all the horsepower in the world.

Get a tune and exhaust, go back out again.

You'd have a bit more seat time, a better understanding of the cars dynamics, and incremental changes you can actually feel. After that, decide if you want to progress further, that's when you start spending substantial money with a lesser rate of improvement. If you want to take it seriously, then the choice of getting something more track orientated, less compromised may seem appealing and you're not left with a gaping big hole in your wallet and fundamentally more knowledgable.

R35 aside, bear in mind the most recent variant of the R34 was build in 2002. So your looking at a 10 year old car minimum.

Track it hard and things will need replacing, a track GTR is not a cheap exercise.
