Since you bought an '06 Wrx, you already are stuck with the wrong platform!
STi is the proper way go!
As the others mentioned above, get one already set up.

What kind of track car?

Drag?
Targa? If so, what class?
Time attack?
Circuit?

Etc etc etc.

Then you'd realise that it is better to buy a MY06 RA-R (or the likes), cage it, add gucci suspension and learn2drive.

Bigger brakes, wide rims with big rubber, bigger turbo, tune, replace rest when broken.

Step 2. .....unsure, no one has got past step 1.

Take driver training before spending any money on track mods.

Sell it and buy pollards or stewie liddles 06 sti for <$50k.

A wrx will always be a wrx. Dont think for 1 second you can build a quick car cheap. Both pollards and stewie liddles 06 have reiger suspension which is $15k before you do anything. To build a car like stewie or neils will cost well over $70k plus the cost of the donor car.
