Keen to see if the actuator fixes the problem.

I have this exact same issue. Ticking/flutter noise when hitting boost around 3000rpm and then it goes away once i am over 4000rpm. I thought the noise was a heat sheild so got MMS to check it out. They said all the heat shields were fine. The noise is still there though. Anyone find out a way to fix this issue? Is it to do with the the turbo?

the way the wastegate door is attached can often lead to it coming loose and chattering giving the false illusion of an exhaust leak, more prominent on the twinscroll turbo's, i got russ to clamp mine shut & then weld the door to the arm... fixed the noise completely turbo off to so this obviously

Also if you go from a factory dump pipe to a TBE in stainless with a bell mouth it will be louder as the gate and gases can flow better and the stainless resonates the sound a little better... this has happened on my roadie and my race car both times the only change was a stainless TBE.
If the cars boosting o.k. and not spiking its probably the fact the gasses going through the wastegate are flowing and not hitting a flat plate on exit.

Interesting... I just came across a strange noise myself last night. Was on the freeway accelerating from 80 to 90 and when I hit 3500rpm in 4th gear I got a squeaky whistling noise. 3500 right on the spot. Repeatable. Seemed as though it came from behind the dash area so I'm assuming the noise is just traveling through the vents.

I tried all other speeds, gears and it wouldn't replicate... only 3500rpm in 4th gear. My first thought was a boost leak. I've got the car booked in @ STechnic in 3 weeks time so I'll hopefully get a diagnosis then. Just thought I'd post the CSB and result in a few weeks in case it helps anyone else in the future.

I'd say yours is something different Trolley. Mine makes the noise before full boost, which in theory is due too the gate not being fully open. Once I hit boost around 3k I don't hear it again at all.

Bought a 3-port grim speed boost solenoid so hoping by installing and tuning that I can get reduce the noise.

Hi Tony

I tightened the actuator arm yesterday (which i had already tried). It's now the tightest it can go but the noise is completely gone. Car still runs normally but no flutter. As Strubaru said the gate must be loose and by tightening the arm it's just pulling it in tighter and stopping the movement. Woooohooo stoked.

Do you have a boost guage. By tightening it up all the way your car wont be dumping excess boost like its tuned to and ypu will experience boost spike, which is bad (ask dukedrifter). I wouldnt drive it till its been tuned Or loosen the actuator back to where it was immediatly.
