177hp run on the PowerFC as posted by Mao.

The initial power run was performed with the car totally untouched, other than the AFM that was replaced and Power FC plugged back in.

Further on, when the retune was done, we couldnt control boost and Warick found the restrictor in the T, placed in the wrong direction as well. Obviously, this was removed, before proceeding with the tune.

I asked Rhys and he mentioned that the CEL light was always on when the stock ecu was replaced. That's why I asked why the AFM was not replaced in the first place.

Addtional info, the car was not making any boost with the CEL on and I was curious why Rhys was given the vehicle that way. Not sure of any other factors in between.
Futher info, car is not making boost when delivered to Evo R workshop, so that explains the 177hp figure. I'm sure if Mao posted the boost/afrs from the dynapack, that would confirm this.

Story goes like this in my head.

1. Guy gets car tuned at ASG. Dyno plots, boost graphs, afrs etc to back up it was tuned correctly. Car leaves workshop driving fine and obviously boosting fine as there are no complaints for 4 days.

2. 4 days later AFM dies. Shit happens and they just randomly die. Just happens that it was close to when the tune happened.

3. Owner removes immobiliser unit. I'm assuming this is to diagnose the faulty AFM?

4. Owner goes on holiday

5. Owner returns from holiday and tows car to ASG for diagnosis. ASG note wires in the cabin, plug in stock ECU and diagnose that it is probably AFM or from the loose wiring. As this is a new job they advise there will be a charge to the customer to fix this problem. Customer leaves with the car on stock ECU in limp mode.

6. OP posts up on here for advice.

7. EvoR say to bring the car in.

8. EvoR diagnose the AFM fault and replace it. Reinstall PowerFC and do a power run. Power run shows new boost restriction issue.

9. EvoR fix boost issue and retune the PowerFC.

10. Customer wants ASG to refund the money of the tune they had completed under the false belief they had done something wrong.

Imo, neither ASG or EvoR have done anything wrong. ASG couldn't have performed the initial tune on a faulty AFM or with the boost lines incorrect. EvoR have received a vehicle and followed the owners instruction to fix and tune.

AFM has failed. It happens and is no ones fault.

Boost lines have been tampered with and only the owner will know who did this.

I think this is more the issue John and I believe does deserve a retraction statement from EvoR. Riceman has been given bad advice from EvoR as to the reason for the issues.

Screenshot taken here.

Please provide evidence of our bad advice. Rhys's stock ecu has AFM CEL.

Vehicle came to Evolution R and the problem was fixed..

What are you trying to imply here?

EDIT: please see-

The fact you told your client this was tuned on a faulty AFM is what I AM implying. The fact is that this is not possible to do without picking up, which you should be well aware of. I believe the comment to be derogatory and believe it deserves a retraction.

I think he's more implying your statement saying the vehicle was tuned on a faulty AFM. Just because it showed up at your shop with a bung AFM, does not mean it was tuned that way originally. By making that claim, to me it's just poor form on behalf of a business, of any nature. As soon as a shop makes a snide remark or such at another company, I walk out and tell them to fuck their business. You want to succeed in your business, you do your job well and leave the name calling behind.

I can't believe this thread is still open, if it was to do with any other workshop, ie MMS, Racetorque, S-Technic etc etc it would have been locked ages ago!!

I agree that Mao should have thought before he typed, but I applaud him for sticking around and supporting this site, even with all the crap he cops, and allot of the crap is from Mod's, who I thought would be impartial, but happily accept Mao's money!!

Just lock this thread FFS!

p.s. I have spent a shit load of money at ASG by the way.
