im going to get a new restrictor pill and pipe to see if its just that, does the pill have to be a certain part down the line? apparently there is meant to be paint on the pipe to mark where it is meant to be, but i have no markings

There is markings on the pipe as to where it should be,
If you buy a brand new one from subaru the pill comes in the hose as one part

Very much it sound like the problems are to do with the restrictor pill or the lines as i had the same issue many years ago with 97 wrx and only made 7psi on a dyno day, embarrassing. But i would double check the intercooler holds pressure as they do fail on the odd occasion.

i thought about it tonight, my airbox filter is quite dirty, maybe that is causing some issues? the pod intake i have, not a CAI works well but after a while as the engine bay is hot and i dont have a pod cover, it doesnt hit full boost (only 7.5psi) so maybe the airfilter in the stock box is causing issues?
