Can anyone give me the part number for the Threaded Pipe that goes in the centre of the Oil Cooler( that the Oil Filter Screws onto).
The only explanation of the leak could be I slightly bent that tube when I removed the old filter with a Screwdriver so Im going to replace that Pipe. A part number will make life easier for me to get hold of one. Also looking for the Torque needed when fitting that threaded pipe? Just found this Article on Subaru Oil Filters: Good read http://allwheeldriveauto.com/subaru-...ers-explained/ Last edited by django; 30-04-2013 at 07:34 PM. |

I use the after market K&N filter. hp-1008. Works fine.
Never had one leak.. How come you could not find a Z495?? No repco? supercheap? autobaurn nearby? Always best to use the right filter... |

Because the Z432 is the same size as the Standard Genuine Subaru Filter it was being said that this was the one that should be used so that's what I fitted up. It leaked so I put an original Subaru one on there and this leaks as well!!, the only thing I can possibly think of now is that the Threaded Tube that the filter screws onto is bent!?? |

Like I said I still think its the oil cooler o ring. Goto a subaru dealership, give them your chassis number and get a quote. Better year phone them and do the same

this^^^^ once you remove the threaded tube you'll realise the orange o-ring marti's talking about, if the threaded tube has come loose it will also leak, slight possibility this is the cause & causing the oil cooler (that sits above the oil filter) to not seal against the block

funnily enough i've been monitoring my new car as i noticed some oil leaking around the filter, i thought it was coming from higher up, i'll be changing the oil on mine this weekend & checking that the oil cooler (heat transfer) module above the filter has not come loose, need a 24mm deep socket to tighten the tube up, part number for the orange o-ring that goes between the block and the oil cooler is #21370
I'll report back with results |

I'll try change that Oil Cooler O Ring then( to rule that out), I know the one your talking about guys, ive seen pics of them elsewhere.
I think the leak is getting worse!?, Had a look under the car yet again tonight and changing that O ring looks to be a pain!?, Trying to get in there and squeeze those clips open on the hoses going to the Oil Cooler will be a challenge because of the way Mine are Orientated. What sort of Torque setting is required on that Threaded Pipe with the nut section?.... |

Undo the 10mm bolt on the coolant feed pipe under the cam cover. Then once you get the 24mm threaded pipe off you can slightly twist the oil cooler to get access to the o ring

Don't worry about dropping the oil, not much will come out, just re check it once you've changed the filter and o ring
