Default bronze flakes in my oil

Hi everyone, ive got a slight knocking but not loud in my 1997 sti and I changed the oil and found bronze flakes in the oil. Any ideas . Cheers

Possibly a spun small or big end bearing need to pull motor and have a look at least . if you still have the oil and filter cut filter open and look for metal in the element and strain the motor oil through a paper coffee filter but if its noticeable and you have a knock id definitely be pulling the motor . Sorry for the bad news

Slight knock is still rooted bearings - imminent bottom end death predicted.

Just the bearings mate.
Don't use it pull the motor or if not that way inclined tow it to a shop . That metal is throughout your motor The less its run and quicker its fixed = less damage = less money . It sucks but at least you have caught it before a catastrophic failure .

In your opinion guys , for the best result reliability power should I use a ej205 short block with my ej20k heads or just get my crank reground. Cheers

Factory EJ207 Sti short motor - add boost and enjoy.

There is bronze in the small end bushings in the top of the conrods.

Post a picture of the flakes?

Ive got rid of the oil already however it just looked like gold flakes . Ive started to pull the engine out so ill find out soon. Thanks for the quick replies
