Butler Built dump pipe ? & photos
Hey guys,
So I've got this Butler Built 3 inch TBE that came off a 2011 forester automatic, I'm going try to have it fitted up to my rex. My main question is reference the pics of the dump pipe. Apparently this is the secret weapon of the Butler exhausts. I'm not really qualified to make any assertions on performance aspects but ... I have noticed the roughness of the edges and particularly the gap between the outside of the 'splitter insert' and the inside wall of the dump pipe. My question is ....is there likely to be any performance gains from having that gap filled (welded or other method??) And is it worth while to de-burr all the rough spots in general. Also....as you can see by the black carbon out line, this dump pipe does not open to sit flush with the edge of the turbo.... As opposed to a invidia or xforce bell mouth....( this is an assumption only as I've only seen photos of those units.) Can anyone explain the idea behind this? Any opinions or explanations on this design would be great. Last edited by Rexit; 26-02-2014 at 12:11 PM. |
