Hey,

Iv got a Sti bugeye and i got some equal length headers i want to put on my car but they wont fix because the sump gets in the way. Are you able to remove the sump and replace it with out taking the engine out?
has anyone does this or know how to do it the best way?

Remove intercooler, undo brace from firewall to g/box, undo engine mounts from crossmember, jack engine up and I use a 1/4 inch drive with a uni joint to get to the 4 at the back, hardest bit is cleaning and putting back with no oil drips.
Or.....
Take it to a workshop

As sleeper said, undo engine mounts & jack the motor up. Getting the bolts out of the old sump is pretty easy. It's putting the 6 or so bolts that are slightly under the front of the crossmember. new bolts. Some patience is what's needed & a bit of blue tak in the socket head to manouver the bolt into place

Defiantly the hardest those
Ones fiddly as

As above just undo mounts and the cooler and lift I used a engine crane on mine

Just take ya time and it's easy enough

Sounds Ok Andrew sounds as if it will come off i would have worried about the oil pickup

I think if you are lifting the motor so high i would remove the bar firewall to the top of the gearbox under the inter cooler
