Great way to waste $800 in an application that does not warrant them.

I must have missed all the lifted head threads where people were using ARP 2000's?
I only know of 1 motor that actually lifted it's heads - and that was Tino's monster!

Head studs won't fix bore resonance - I'd be pinning the top of the 2.5's bores before throwing Primo Guucci head studs at it.

BTW I do rate the 625's - I just fitted a set to an RB26 that makes 950hp, they are just complete wank on mild builds.
Granted in this case the standard ARP 11's will probably be ok but I spec and build engines that will definitely be ok not probably.

There's plenty of documented cases where standard ARP 2000 have stretched which is why I'll never use them in one of my builds or suggest that anyone else does.

I think I'll just not bother and let you all get on with it. That way you can all learn the hard way like I've had to over the last 15 years.

Hey Daz,

I think alot of members here are more than grateful with your knowledge put out here in the forum. Not to mention some members can be a little too passionate with their comments at times. But, I dont think no harm is intended. Just roll on with it I say...

Now, I suspect ARP 2000 studs may have been used in my engine but I will try and confirm first but I would also be very interested in what Nauli has to say on which ARP studs he used in his engine aswell. This would be interesting to know.

Btw thankyou to everyone with their input so far. It's been Awesome to say the least!

Don't take it personally, you're not the only one who has been building their own cars for years, everyone is entitled to their opinion that's not to say everyone has to take it as gospel - lighten up

My opinion is, unless you are running a sleeved block & big boost I.e 30psi+ you do not need 625's - in the case of 2.5's you'd be better off spending the price difference between the two types of studs on pinning the tops of the bores to gain HG reliability if you aren't sleeving - like I said my opinion only, take it with a pinch of salt - always go with what YOUR actual engine builder recommends anyway.

Well I can confirm by looking at the receipts with my engine, the ARP head studs used were only entry level items as they cost the previous owner only $370.

So now, knowing this I plan to use ARP 625 head studs or Cosworth studs.

On this topic. Someone said to me that Cosworth head studs are just ARP 625's rebranded. Can anyone confirm this?

I had 2000's in my 207 with commetic gaskets and it failed ..I now run genuine mls gaskets and 625+ ..

But not sure if gasket or studs where at fault so swapped both
