Default replaced maf now no codes but .7 bar of boost

Hey guys my car was having maf issues i was getting a maf code and i grabbed a new maf from my friend. Car ran great then felt like it went back into limp mode except no more engine codes. Did a hard reset no help. Only when i disconnect the battery will it fix itself for a few minutes. Im thinking maybe my boost solenoid is done? Anybody have something like this happen? My car is a 1998 sti type r ej20k.

Thanks guys!

It would be worth checking the solenoid! Also do you have the correct boost restrictor pill ? I'm not 100% sure it could be the pill, but I know without it it causes over boosting might be another thing to look for!

Also check you vac lines might have a pressured leak when you get on it!

Let us know how it goes!

You've got that the wrong way round.

Without the restrictor pill you wont get boost well you will but it will only be about 0.7bar.

Really? Cause my mate was running without a restrictor pill for a couple of days and he was over boosting up to 20psi, he then bought the correct pill and went back down to factory boost.

Yeah really.

The pill restricts air coming from the compressor housing to the wastegate solenoid. Without the pill the solenoid gets overloaded, opens and the wastegate actuator will open too early as a result of this.

Incedently I learned this on my first ever build. Swapped the rubber vac lines for blue silicone ones but didn't swap the pill over. No boost. Swapped the rubber lines back and hit boost. Did some reading and discovered the existence of these restrictor pills. Took it out of the rubber lines and put it in the silicone lines and hey presto 1.5 bar again. It's one of those things I've never forgotten.

I did that on my Legacy RS/RA.......2 days of head scratching before I found the pill in the old line hehe

It's worth noting that different years have different sized holes in the pill too.
Going to a smaller hole is a simple way to increase stock boost without spending more than $5

Glad I'm not the only one that's made that mistake.
