As Bram said ^^

With my TD05-20g the wastegate spring is 13psi.
If I run zero wastegate duty the boost peaks at 13psi
If I disconnect the actuator pressure line it will hit 30 psi no problem at all (only being limited by the ECU's over boost protection).

Once you've adjusted the the w/g arm be sure to drop the EBC's duty by at least half the current values before driving - the Duty cycle should be greatly reduced with the correct WG pre-load.

you may be having a boost creep issue aswell. i suspect a turbo this size is getting towards the point of being to big for an internal wastegate.

my wastegate actuator open at approx 19psi. ive bench tested it with an accurate pressure guage. when it was installed on my old td05, 'wastegate pressure' would be about 18/19psi as you would expect. The same actuator fitted to my dom with about the same preload etc, and 'wastegate pressure' is up around 21/22psi. even though the wastegate opens at a lower pressure. I suspect its a boost creep issue, and the wastegate valve cannot bypass enough volume of gas.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have some testing maps set with wastegate, 25% and 50% duty cycle on i, sport and sport sharp modes so that I can quickly test.

I also know not to get carried away with the throttle when overriding wastegate protections. Although you can tell it is starting to feel and sound great.....

I will wind up the actuator arm tomorrow morning once it cools down.

You can do a creep test by fixing the wastegate fully open & driving at WOT - if the boost continues to build at high RPM (proving boost creep) then the WG port needs to be opened up, if it doesn't build much boost then you need to lower the WG Preload to run as close to spring pressure as possible.

thanks. i dont know if it will be able to even build boost with the gate fully open? i think its more its struggling to flow enough gas once its on boost and then open.

The preload is pretty low. its alot less than your previous recomendation. Maybe about 2-3mm.

My gtpumps had a 16psi spring in a turbo smart actuator with a butler dump held 1.56 bar flat to limmiter might be the vipec closed loop boost control tho

I tightened a couple of bolts from the turbine housing to dump and also better fitted the turbo outlet hose. I also wound on an extra 4 turns on to the actuator.

Without any change to duty cycle I am now hitting 15psi.

The car has some slight hesitation from steady to wide open throttle but is otherwise feeling crisp.

I will continue with the tuning and see how it responds now to some more boost.

Next on the problems to solve/improve are bigger coolant lines to the core from the reservoir as well as that running between the head and core.
