Oil Change Opinions
Hi all,
Have just had 75,000km service on my 2012 WRX, including upper engine cleaner, done at my usual place (not the dealer). Oil was replaced with Fuchs 5w30 full synthetic. I checked the dipstick after about 2 days / 150ish km and the oil already looks fairly dirty. I also noticed it's extremely thin, to the point where it dripped off the dipstick. Car was warmed up first and outside temp was about 25 degrees. I know for sure the oil is fresh but do you guys think it's worth dropping it now or very soon? I feel it's a bit unusual that the oil is brown already and it's quite thin, I don't recall my previous oil being like that. Thanks in advance, Grrilla |

Thin, yes 5w30 will be thin, this is good for cold starts, it should not get any thinner when hot.
Oil turning black quickly is nothing to worry about, in fact that what it should do- absorb carbon in the motor. This may not apply to your motor, brown could be something else. |

Actually I just rechecked and yes black is more accurate. Just seemed to be noticeably thinner than the previous oil which was same specs, different brand. Thanks for your input!
