Default Logging / playback questions

Just wondering if Motec have anything similar to the logging features that Haltech ECU's and manager software provide?

With the Haltech I was able to do the following:
  • Log as many channels at any speed directly to my laptop rather than having to log to the (rather limited 16mb) onboard memory
  • Open the logs either in the ECU manager software or in a specialised log-viewer application for instant comparison to current configs
  • "Playback" the logfile at realtime, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 speeds to replay logged time and get all preconfigured sensors and gauges etc to output exactly as they did when driving (Awesome feature)
Thanks.

If I remember correctly, you need the Motec i2 software to play with the data logs.

Yeah got that but as with anything Motec it's very convoluted and requires you to have a PHD in Quantum Mechanics to be able to get anything useful out of it.

If only the Haltech supported DBW throttles the Motec would be on eBay already I can safely say....

for more then the stock 1mb onboard logging, you want the the ACL, or use an ADL1/2/3

And they aren't cheap....

I think you can log to a laptop with the telemetry function turned on? I have no idea how expensive this is though.

ECU Manager has no functionality to log data coming into the PC, neither does i2 Standard.

i2 is an amazingly powerful tool for viewing logged data and is easy to use once you know how, though I guess thats true of everything.

The Motec is pretty much dedicated to racing cars, the fact that it can run road going cars is nothing more than a by product. It's a unit designed to be used more by engineers than anyone else, as far as I can see.

What are you wanting to log that the 1mb isn't enough?

Well after some playing around with logging and I2 standard I have to say that I'm very happy with the Motec. It would appear that the 1mb logging must be 1mb of compressed data not 1mb of CSV like I was led to believe. I've logged over 20 minutes worth of data and that's logging all sorts of things at 20 per second.

Plus I2 DOES have a playback function not to mention the mixture map feature which is awesome for offline tuning. Now to find out what my Lambda delay is and I'm set

^ Its good gear. I have an M800 and 1Mb as well for memory. (Although I'm saddened to look at the last log... <when it dak-dak-dok>)

Give us a squizz of your logs here.

Have you got the Motec dash too? I dont recall? I prefer Robs AIM MXL, worth a look before you buy the Motec one if your thinking of going gucci-dash goodness in the piggy.

Brent.
