For the money, tell me a coffee that will better it?

By the time Brazilian or Italian coffee is roasted and sent out here, it goes stale....so unless you have it in the country of origin, its nothing more than one big epic fail.

Good coffee in Perth:

Velvet Espresso
Epic Espresso
Tiger Tiger
77's
Gino's

Everything else I've had is pretty much rubbish

sure i agree i did not of course have the coffee here so you are wrong to jump to the conclusion maybe do a bit of research on the specific coffee i was talking about and get back to me

I know the coffee, read about it on the Cup Of Excellence website...so I bet its f*ckin awesome, especially considering you had it in Brazil!

Know the whole crew, but Justin Kenny, the owner and Johnny Nease, the barista, are the two main ones.

add Cimbalino's in Nedlands to the list. Obviously named after La Cimbali machines...
They use essenza beans... fantastic!

I dont have fancy equipment, i have a Krups espresso machine that i use sometimes in the morning but normally i just use the stovetop percolators.

like this one

I'm not saying that this makes better coffee than any other ones in the thread, its more the thing that i have been brought up on this coffee so i'm used to it

edit: Also i use illy coffee beans with a good burr grinder, but this thread has inspired me to go and buy some of the coffee mentioned.

Illy beans are supposed to be excellent, but sadly, some batches are affected by importation problems....by the time it gets here, its past its prime. If you get a particularly fresh batch i.e. made and then shipped out straight away, its generally okay, but anything thats been sitting around before shipping is normally rubbish by the time it arrives.

Here's a good article reviewing a lot of the Italian beans available, vs the North American stuff.

To many options. I think i will do a shit load of research 1st. I thought this might be a simple topic. The one at work will make maybe 10-20 cups a day and the one at home maybe 3-4(only after work and on weekends). I will look into this before heading off to buy one. Thanks for the help.
