Yes and No.

GM use to own Saab and also had a 10% stake in Fuji who own Subaru, hence the colabaration on 1-2 models that were epic failures in the US. A wrx with a Saab front end and 5k dearer was never going to work.

GM have since sold their stake in Subaru which has now been picked up by Toyota, so there is no direct relation anymore.

To answer the 2nd part Saab have developed their own AWD system based on Haldex with an electric/hydraulic centre diff etc etc. I dont believe they got much from Subaru.

Alfas can mount up in repair costs, no matter what people say about them, electrics are still a worry in them.

Would honestly go BMW, Mercedes or Audi, new or 2nd hand.

Then perhaps Saab/Volvo. S60R are a good drive.

Alternatively get something j-spec vip like a Cima - http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=6692

And sink the balance 30g or whatever into the house or another house

Safety? How is a vehicle too heavy to stop or avoid anything that is around 10x more likely to be in a crash, safe? Your on a wrx forum you should know better than to spread the stupid idea that big shitty tanks like this are safe.

Gee take a pill mate... what vehicle is safe ?? they are all tin cans on wheels, regardless of how big or how many airbags they may have.
