Amnet

Broadband2+ 5GB 5 GB 7.5 GB Shaped Free N/A Static $49 /mo

I've even got a spare ADSL2+ Modem here if you need to test.
Sometimes it also depends if there is space in your local Telstra exchange for your ADSL connection too.

thanks for the offer, but i take it that is the standard modem they give you?
i need the wireless so i actually sold that one they give you.
not a bad modem though.
cheers anyway

there is a pretty good consensus that Amnet is good. I say that cause I have been with them for ~4 years.

Static/dynamic refers to the unique address your service gets. If you are asking the sort of questions you are, it tells me you don't need this. If an ISP gives you a FREE static IP address, thats great. But its a service you will never use so don't put out any money for it.

Shaped is when you go over your allowance and your internet connection is shaped. Most providers are different but you may be shaped from say 6mb to 64k. or to put that in more realistic terms, 6000k to 64k. its not a nice situation to be in but it is *much* better than the old way of having to pay $1 a meg above your allowance.

most providers will allow you to sign up for 24, 12, 6 or 1 month(s). As with mobile phones, the longer the plan, the smaller the startup fee.
