Have the walls cracked at all around the broken slab? It should have gone through a few heat cycles and if the walls are not cracked yet then my guess is that they are not going to. However, bearing that in mind depending on when the plaster was done the plasterer could have just covered up anything.

Grinding the concrete and patching it will do absolutely nothing to aid the slab structually. All the slurry will do is level off the height difference. If the walls are cracked then the slab is going to keep moving. IMHO only way to really fix it IF the walls are cracked is to rip it down and build it again. I would be interested to see structere's opinion.

Dont let BGC just fob you off. Take heaps of photos (including them doing any repair work) because it will only help you when and if it goes to the HIA.

Structere might have done a compaction test around the outside of the house and it would be interesing to see those results aswell. The results will be measured in 'blows per 300mm with a perth sands penetrometer'.

Default quick question about internal fusebox

rather than start a new topic figured this would go here with the other builders etc.....

did you all get an internal fusebox or subboard?
where did ya place it? in the house or garage?

every spot i pick the builder says no can do... and may just end up in a common area in plain sight, something i wanted to avoid. cant do the laundry as single wall and not the walk in linen due it being enclosed/a big cupboard.

it has got me thinking do we really need it? it would only save a walk outside if the power trips to turn it on..... and some $$$ ofcourse.

thanks in advance

well remember where ever you put it the meter man and gas man still have to be able to read the meters.

I would avoid putting it in sight to much as they are uglly as fuck.
but saying that keep it all together no point in moving it.
how many times do you really need to goto meter box.

Nothing should be tripping it anyway.

I got my garage extended to the boundry line and they flipped the corner of garage into its self and stuck it in there which is a good spot as my bin goes in there also.

the only reason i can see them saying they dont want to have it certain places if becuase of cable run and gas run from the street.

which side are your services on? and which side is your garage on ?

services and main meter box are on the right side at front (meter man access is fine) and garage on left.

with three phase power there should be no tripping. we could place internal box in a corner but it will have to be a common area or the garage outta sight...... mmmm

I've put the meter out the front only, fuse box is closer to the house.

Yep, I'm renovating, the block is on a 45 degree incline and the original section of the house is towards the rear, and the complete meter box was up with the original part of the house. Really depends on legislation in the area that your building as to whether you can put a fence/wall/meter wall out the front of the house.

So many reasons/variables that go into location of meter boxes. With you cheap spec houses it will be placed on the front elevation thats the shortest distance from your street services.

Most common place is on the garage wall adjacent to your front door. Meets all requirements and at the end of the day it has to be accessable. If you anal about people walking up and taking fuses either make sure you have a lockable meter box or do what jamie did and upgrade to to have the fuse box closer or inside the house
