I think it is rude.

I used to get people park in the doorway and I would ask them to move...

they would say things like- but, my car is in for...

them not being smart enough to realise that you need to take out the car that has just been finished, Or perhaps even finish it off, so that you can put their car into a work bay to do the job.

It is simply arrogance and/or ignorance.

At one workshop we even had a plastic chain with a sign on it that we would hang across the workshop entrance. And yes, I had customers who would climb over it or under it, and even complain to me that it made it awkward for them to get into the workshop.

So very true. On topic - i think its rude. Who's to say your car is priority over someone elses? Maybe they still have vehicles they need to finish before yours.

Slightly off topic - on the subject of stupidy. I was once mopping the entrance tiles at a fast food store. As a joke between another staff member and myself i had put up like 4-5 wet floor signs instead of the usual one. As customer walking in, stepped around 2 of them, pretty much climbed over a third, stood next to the 4th one whilst almost looking directly at the 5th, and still was so ignorant as to have a go at me for not putting up a wet floor sign.

Funnily enough she changed her tune quick smart as both myself and her friend pointed out all the signs she had walked around/over...

depending on the customer, some times we allow them to drive into the workshop if invited by us. but i do find it really rude if someone just drives in without permisssion.

The type of person who drives straight into your workshop is also the type who hangs around, trying to 'help' and get extra stuff 'just quickly' done for free.

We had a guy drive his car into our workshop and claim that the wind blew a roofrack onto the side of his car (it was leaning up against a wall for some days prior) I reckon he stepped on the leg causing it to fall. Anyway, long story short, he complained, boss (softcock) caved in and paid for the repairs on his car.

I had a real winner walk into my work area.... he walked up to me and complained that the area stank.

The guy had ducked under "CAUTION" tape, walked passed a sign I had stuck up which said "HAZARDOUS FUMES. DO NOT ENTER" and the fact I was wearing a respirator didnt make him stop and think..."hmm maybe I shouldnt go in there".
So.....going by this example, I dont think a little thing like bad manners is going to stop these people.
