A mate has a Q5 and it drinks nearly as much oil as it does diesel. His missus drives it and it has never been off road. Talk to the DP and it is certainly not an isolated incident. Once they get the engine sorted though it will be great. Engine aside build quality is same same excellent as other audi's.

The Q5's are only currently made in the Germany, production is planned in Slovakia & India. I've never heard of any issues other than the short supply, unless your thinking of the issues that plagued the ML's & X5's made in the US.

$65 - $70k would get u a pretty luxo 2yr old turbo diesel prado for sure! Good thing about the toyo's is they aren't run in until they hit 100 000 kms! My Lux has 185000kms on the clock and runs like an absolute dream. Doesn't smoke at all (diesel) and goes hard off road. The only thing it is lacking is speed (doesn't lack power - torque) and luxury.. But I didn't buy it for that.

My 09 GXL D4D Auto cost me $54K. Came with Bonnet Protector, Roof Racks, Weathershields, Tint and Mats

Had 22,000KM on it.

And It has luxury, power and torque. I love it.

Would have preferred a Grande but it was $80K which was a bargain for brand new old model but still it was $80K

EDIT: It got 1637KM last tank (162L) has 180L Tank 9.8L/100KM last tank, that was with tri zone air con on, and pulling our boat for around 200KM

yup can't fault my 09 GXL d4d at the moment. We did a 4000k trip in summer, 1/4 off that on sand and on average i got 10.5 l /100km! and that included a full tracklander roof rack and full boot with 5 people inside! I visit petrol stations once a month

if you buy a diesel one go for 08+ if possible as they've sorted their injector problems afterwards. GXLs come with climate control and the usual stuff but if u want leather/sunroof/satnav etc go grande

for some time I have been thinking about presenting this same question. I managed to talk myself out of the upgrade for now

viewing the replies, imo we may have made the decision harder. test drive and good luck. please let us know what you ended up getting along with the experiences to conclude
