Default What Car to buy for the wife and +2

Ok so we currently have a Jeep Grand Cherokee (I should be shot I know)

It is time to finally take it out the back and put a bullet in it like I should have done years ago.

Question is what to buy???

My criteria generally are;

less than 2 years old
Mid size SUV (or large)
Not a Prado
price between 40-65K maybe up to 70K
needs to fit family plus big dog

I am leaning towards Discovery 3 or Freelander 2

We do occasionally take the car off road so it needs to be somewhat capable.

Any suggestions because there seems to be a big gap in the price range.

thanks

I surprised but my uncle bought a top of the range MAzda CX9. TALK ABOUT ROOMY.
Capable of seating 7 and the back seat was hell roomy. I'm 6'6 and I had so much head room, it was illegal.

Lux pack Forester XT.

You'll come away with change too.

we bought a MY10 Forester X LE ( mags + foggies and little things).

35K drive away, Peel Subaru.. They even found a colour we wanted, last one in Perth in the LE at the time. Easy to deal with, they even got it into stock in time for us to drive up and pick it up.

Ours is the 2.5 with hi-lo, and it's a absolute blast to drive.

Yes you should be shot Shane (but then again I cant talk either). Didnt you say last week you wouldnt look at a replacement due to messy kids and dog?

I'd go the Disco myself. Bit more room for "holiday" gear and if the family expands then its got the seating to cope. Forestor/Outback etc would prolly be more reliable but Disco is obviously more capable offroad. Tough descision...

Brand new Audi Q5, they start just under 60k to 70k. They are about the same size of a Mercedes Benz ML's just with a lower roof height & probably IMO roomer than the Jeep. 4 engines available 2.0TDI, 2.0TSI, 3.2 & 3.0TDI.

x2 for Forester. I would steer clear of the Freelander. Ive owned 2, the first one caught fire & was written off by insurance. The replacement had more faults than I have room to write here. Warranty was useless.
