Did anyone manage to drive past??

Let me know if you see it tomorrow or Thursday. I should be able to make a detour through the city with a couple of detectors.

$700 device deflects speed cameras
RONAN O'CONNELL, The West Australian May 27, 2010, 5:23 am

Sean Hettich with the new laser sensor which can scramble the new police digital dual-lens speed cameras.

WA's new digital speed cameras are under threat from a $700 device that can deflect laser radars.

The Laser Pro Park [LPP], which operates on the same infrared light spectrum as the Vitronic dual-lens speed cameras and is being sold legally in WA, can detect the cameras from several hundred metres.

It then alerts the driver, according to Sean Hettich, owner of Jandakot store Security Gear.

He said that because the device, which is designed as a parking sensor for cars, flooded the front of a vehicle with infrared light, the speed camera's laser bounced back without giving a speed reading.

Police traffic division Commander Michelle Fyfe said police became aware only recently of the device and had not yet confirmed if it would have an impact on its new cameras.

Police bought 14 digital speed cameras recently and it is understood they plan to order at least a dozen more in coming months.

The laser-based cameras, which capture digital images from a distance, will replace the film-equipped Multanovas.

WA is the only State where it is legal to sell radar detectors such as the Laser Pro Park. But Cdr Fyfe warned that drivers who used the device might contravene Commonwealth and State laws.

Police want the sale of all such devices outlawed. "Crash statistics show that around one-third of fatal crashes in WA involve speeding in excess of the limit as a contributing factor," she said.

"Those who speed and endanger us all on our roads should be held to account and police support any moves that assist in our enforcement effort."

Police Minister Rob Johnson, who believes radar detectors should be banned, said moves to outlaw them were under way.
Shadow police minister Margaret Quirk said she believed there were provisions in Federal laws under which a person could be penalised for using a device that detected or scrambled speed cameras.

It is my understanding that LPP DO NOT block Poliscan. As such, this article is nothing self promotion to sell an ineffective device. More misinformation anyone
