I'd eat flatties from no further up stream than freshwater bay....Plus there's loads of them down there!

Spent the day on a Mills Deep Water charter, loads of people chucked their guts up (myself included at one point), a couple of nice fish but most went home empty handed.

Feel free to explain as opposed to just saying *brrrrrp WRONG*
Opinion and personal experience isn't wrong. It may be different to your experiences however. Before switching to catch and release fishing, I spent the best part of 10 years eating what I caught. In my experience, 25-30cm Bream tasted far better than say a 35cm Bream. The bigger fish were bland. Keep in mind that most of these fish were caught upstream of East Perth. Older Bream from deeper water, more structure and an abundance of mussels as opposed to Bream that feed on flats could arguably make them taste "better". I still stand by flathead being nicer to eat. My taste-buds, not yours!

- Westralian Jewfish; - Baldchin Gropper; and - Pink Snapper. (from memory I think most if not all of the above would be undersize at 30cm) I thoroughly recommend that you at least try Westralian Jewfish from the ones I've posted above. I do agree with you that size can effect the taste of a fish. This is very typical in Samson Fish and shark, but bring on the oversize Jewfish any day of the week
