Wayne, long story short - the drive is fucked.

Only data recovery will be able to rebuild it. You have tried basically everything that I/Kevin (TechniQ) and any PC Store will/can do.

Elcotronics in Myaree have a clean-room for rebuilding hard-drives specifically damaged by this sort of knock.

Cheers.

must have missed it, late night lol

well if its an HDD, then the drop could have caused something internal to break, which means it doesnt spin properly and obviously the computer cannot read it.

exact same happened to a mate of mine, computer repair shop etc will be able to extract said data for a price

best of luck Wayne

This is very incorrect. Computer shops cannot fix damaged/failed heads or spinning motors.

I am yet to find one that has the expertise or access to second hand parts required.

We can recover from bad sectors, corrupt partitions, un-deleting, and maybe slightly damaged drives where the drive can still be detected by BIOS & OS.

Moral of story: Don't keep all your shit on your single tb drive. Back it up or run them in a RAID, and then backup your RAID.

Big drives are so cheap and common these days but people don't seem to realise that the bigger they are the more stuff you cram on and it's even more of an disaster when the drive fails.

i said they can get the data off the drive, they will not be able to repair the head or any electrical/mechanical hardware inside the HDD, my mate took his to a a computer repair shop, and they managed to get the data off the drive, he then bought a new one,
