And what im saying is, how do you get the data off a drive that physically does not work.

I would love to know!

WHAT THE FARK!!!

So many random comments when all I basically asked in my BUMP was "does anyone one know which member is the one who works/worked at the computer shop at Waterford plaza".

Only data recovery will be able to rebuild it. You have tried basically everything that I/Kevin (TechniQ) and any PC Store will/can do.

Elcotronics in Myaree have a clean-room for rebuilding hard-drives specifically damaged by this sort of knock.

Cheers.
Cheers mate, was just going to drop it off and see anyway, I'll contact Elcotronics and see what ass burning prices they want to try recover/rebuild the HD for.

Its really easy, ive done it dozens of times myself.

Firstly you carefully remove the cover of the hard drive, then using a white board marker (definately not a permanent one) mark the beginning of the drive, then using the tiniest pair of needle nose pliers, carefully remove the electrons one by one.

Then, obviously, reverse the procedure on a working hard drive.

Be extremely careful though, because if you mess the order up, all the women in all that porn you recovered might have dicks instead of vaginas.

You should get a 1 day ban for wasting Perth-WRX's bandwidth with this post.

When all else fails source another HDD of same capacity, make & model; dismantle both HDDs. Then, remove platters from failed drive and replace into the other HDD which is known to have good working internals. An extreme step to take, all depends on how important data recovery is.

Just a whole bunch of family pics from our annual trip to China Stace and a lot of movies and tv series which can be retrieved by other means, its just the pics that I'm really after.

We took it with us and used it in China to load up all the pics we were taking daily instead of leaving them on the memory cards.

They weren't meant to be burned to disc but it didn't happen in time.
