yep, you could buy 5...............none would be decent though.

Lada Motors did a pretty good job of promoting the cars as tough offroaders back in the day. They entered Nivas in various rally and endurance events with Geoff Portman at the wheel. He was one of Australia's top rally drivers at the time. (still is probably)
There was at least one prototype Niva that had a Nissan Z24 Turbo engine and running gear and fibreglass bodywork, it may well have been the one they used to promote the car in the early days. I would think the stock running gear would have failed prematurely with the beating it took and the connections Geoff Portman had with Nissan at the time.

if you want something seriously, and the suzuki's are too gay for you, then look at GQ Patrols. Most of them will have huge km's and rust, but if you want a reliable 4wd, they are hard to look past. They flex like nothing else and will get you out of most situations... Yeah they are old, but thats ok for a 4x4, just try and find a low km petrol or a Turbo Diesel if they exist...

It is a lighter duty Landcruiser than the rest of the 70 range, with smaller Hilux differentials and drivetrain, and lower capacity engine options. It was also Toyota's first attempt at a coil sprung 4wd.....Choppy!

The BJ7# series had the 'proper' 70 series drivetrain & diffs.... And 3.5l 3B diesel

What sort of 4wd'ing do you intend on doing?
Beach, rocks, mud, touring etc?
If you think you might be doing more of one than the other, buy a car to suit.
I can tell you now, my 3 tonne diesel 80 series with mud tyres DID NOT love the sand...
