Out of curiosity did it splutter/cough at all? I did about 80-90kms after the fuel light came on so was expecting some unhappy noises but nothing of the sort Think I will stay away from tempting fate for a while now though...
I've notice I have about 13 litres left when my light comes on, so slope dependant I should be able to get approx 120kms out of it. I think the most i've done is about 100 after the light has come on, not too keen to test it further!

Having my car booked in to have all the faded bits, scratched bits, and dent fixed at Melthams makes me happy
Cheers Owen!

Not sure how true it is but makes some sense.
You mean to say its bad to make the fuel filter do its job?

He is correct.

In some cases, forcing the pump to suck all the junk in the bottom of the tank makes it work harder, and thus hotter. With the lack of insulating fuel around the pump since the tank is so low, it allows the heat to kill the pump before its time.

mmm fuel starvation, not something you really want to do intentionally, most people work the other way, like fitting anti-surge tanks
