Has anyone looked into this robot?

Automated Robot Vacuum Cleaner - Cordless, Bagless & Lightweight Automatic Vacuum Cleaners For Pet Hair & All Other Cleaning Needs | Neato Robotics

Instead of bumping into shit like the Roomba does, then changing course and running a random path through the house until the floors are clean, the Neato XV-11 actually uses "laser" to guide itself through the house and it learns your rooms so it cleans methodically rather than randomly.

It's $580 here, $399 USD from most American sites.

Would be keen to see a price on these too, looks like it is less 'branded' as the iRobot, with more focus on functionality etc than marketing and a million different models.

these things can get stuck under some furniture. I have a buffet table that the machine can get under, but can't seem to find its way out :S

you have to clear the floor of shoes, some chairs/stools and so forth.

won't hit every spot on the floor but its ok.

my opinion just buy a normal vacuum, that way you know the floor will get down properly.

This may be a problem for me, as there is usually stuff lying around in my house!

The good thing about the robot is that you know that it will get done, to some standard at least. My problem at the moment is that no one can be bothered vacuuming when it gets messy again in a day or two (from cats/sand etc), so even though we have a vacuum cleaner, it is seldom used
