The same night my mates fence blew down and they are now trying to say that it wasn't structurally sound. Just look on sites like whirlpool for the amount of bullshit people are going through with GIO / AAMI. |

Yuck! That is a shit situation.
What died in the A/C? How much to fix it? Few grand by the sounds of it if it's electrical and it needs a new board? Do what you can, but if they fix it great. If not bite the bullet and cancel all your policies with them. How are they getting around not paying up for it? |

Parts are no longer available for the unit, therefore needs a full replacement. The "experts" they sent out (even though I had two reports from a sparky and the company that installed it said that it died due to suspected lightning) told me they were electrical engineers but then asked me if it is single phase or 3 phase. They then spend 2 minutes touching points with a meter and then say it died of old age. Then wrote in their report it is at least 10-15 years old, when it had its build date of 2005 stamped on it. Also I had the receipt for $16K in 05. Long story short, it is my mates house, he has 16 policies with GIO, he has had 4 issues this year claiming with them. He has spoken to the GIO complaints department and got absolutely nowhere so he made contact with the Ombudsman yesterday. I am just going to buy a new A/C and then if they do come to the party, they can reimburse me. |

Bringing this thread back from the dead.
Looking at getting two rooms at the front of the house covered by a reverse cycle setup. Does any one know if it is possible to have a dual zone reverse cycle setup? Not too keen on having two separate split systems installed and have some diffusers in the ceiling already due to an existing evap system. Converting the entire house from evap to reverse cycle is not going to be feasible due to a funky designed ceiling throughout the house.

Will ring around next week, bit pushed for time at the moment. Hopefully there is a way to re-use the existing ducts in the ceiling rather than getting wall units installed.
