Default Oven Help / Insurance

Hey Folks,

Just got home tonight, and thought i would be helpful and start cooking the dinner... Turns out the electric fan oven is busted Doesn't heat up at all.

Its a Gas cooktop, with electric oven (Technika GHE09TW). And i suppose i'm after 2 things:

1) does anyone know anyone who can fix ovens (technika accredited would be awesome!)

2) Are ovens generally covered under house insurance? I don't think we have the accidental damage cover tho..

Anyone with experience would be awesome!

Thanks Yas, Yeah waiting for a call from them. Lee said he would let me know when they are up this way.

I'm kinda hoping to find someone who knows Technika and can get access to the parts because i need the knobs replaced too.. I think the heating element is broken, seems to be pretty common.

Will do GX-REX

Even if you had accidental damage, it doesn't cover failures. It covers accidental damage... eg. if you put something through the glass door of the oven or if it caught fire while you were cooking and destroyed it.

WHS TOO SLOW

Insurances, be it car or house, don't cover wear and tear or mechanical issues. Did it catch fire in an accident while you were cooking?????

Good luck with the oven repair.

Google Maps

x2
most times it's just an element replacement. plug in and out like a lightbulb
And no, insurance will not cover it as it's a consumable

Insurance does cover electrical motor burnout and fusion. But I doubt you could convince the Ins Coy that this was the case here. And if it turns out you only need an $80 part, even if you needed someone to come out and replace it, it would still probably be under your excess.
