I don't know of any insurance company that covers the glass door on an oven

its not a stocked spare and means replacement of the whole oven, esp for older ones

I tried, and failed to find a company that would

Thanks Jon, that would be awesome. I tried to call the number on the website last might(in the east) but no joy. And I've heard Technika have hideous support so it's easier to just arrange repair myself.

Thanks to everyone for replies so far :-)

Allianz & CGU Insurance do. They cover all fixtures and fittings including accidental damage/breakage of glass to same. An oven is classed as a fixture.

HAHA I'm impressed that you've done it. I tried my best to think of damage to an oven that is really, really unlikely and you've done it?!

I turned on the oven one day and the glass just shattered, apparently its quite a common thing and the glass can't just be replaced with tempered glass from the glaziers - its OEM

so when my insurance comp told me to Fuck off, outraged, I called up 3 or 4 and they all told me the same thing

I guess its one of those things that can be abused easily, oven is shit, ooooops the glass just broke

CGU do a "Blue Ribbon Policy", accidental breakage of building fixtures is covered. An oven is classed as a fixture.

Allianz do a SureCover Gold which covers accidental breakage of building fixtures too.

They both cover accidental breakage of glass too. So you have them on 2 fronts.

I chose Allianz. Used to work for CGU, and I don't want to give them my money.

Comes down to your personal choice and the price you are willing to pay. They are not the cheapest option, and what you pay over the years will add up to a new oven in no time.

It's not like breaking the glass on your oven is a common occurence......or is it...??

I have the CGU policy mentioned above, mainly due to wanting cover if my aquarium broke (or some wanker thief decided to break it during a B&E), or if the LCD topples over, etc.

Yeah, I like that they even cover if your pet's knock things over too!
