You can't just let the arsholes get away.Maybe if the goverment increased the penalty and the judges enforced the law to it's fullest and didn't bother about the political throw back then we wouldn't be in the situation we are in.Look at Singapore,do something wrong their and look out.
We are a police state but the crime rate is out of control. To f**king soft on the arseholes that are caught. |

How do they do it these days, chase until chopper arrives and take it from there?
Or keep chasing while chopper follows.

An age-old question which has been resurfacing for decades with some strong points on both sides of the equation.I spent the last 6 years of my 16 years in the job in Traffic and was involved in about 20 pursuits, all offenders caught (except for 3 of the 4 motorbikes) and without injuries to anyone involved; only minor vehicle damage. Common sense, proper category "A" police driver training and maybe some luck?
Better laws with some teeth would be good, however this may also have a downside of more desperation and higher risk taking by the offenders, leading to greater danger to innocents, police and the baddies. Maybe the Singapore solution, with lots of "education" and advertising would decimate the offence rate, but that aint ever gonna happen here . Soften the laws and the baddies know exactly what to do to evade capture. The unknown factors come into play as well... is it a simple case of someone driving under suspension, or have they stolen the car, committed a couple of holdups and/or killed someone? Police don't always have the foreknowledge which would determine how much effort is to be put into a pursuit, and to decide whether or not to back off; especially in this day & age where "please explain" files land on the desk the next morning.

Time for some World's Wildest Police action. Shoot the tyres out and smash them off the road as soon as possible.
