Up until a couple of weeks ago the missus worked for a manufacturer (not a dealer) and had 2 cars. She had one and her parents had one. They got swapped over every 12 weeks and i would have happily recommended any of them to friends / family to buy.

The black art of running cars in. I limiter launched my brand new my00 at the set of lights outside total subaru when i got it and it never let me down. Some people say baby it others say load it up and drive up greenmount hill in a high gear to put some load on it. I dont think modern engines are really an issue with running in any more. Personally i would not run it in keeping constant revs for aperiod of time i.e. The freeway. Other than that just give it a gutfull!

if they are just like buying a new car why are they so heavily discounted?

how come you can have your warranty voided by them logging the ecu and recalling excessive rev limiter events?

you'd be pretty fuckign niave to think there was zero element of risk associated with buying a demo model & that its been treated/babied as a new car would be by a person who's shelled out their own hard earned for it

i'm not saying every sales rep will treat them like this, but come on

Who does that?

99% of dealers can't even tell if you've had the stock ECU tuned. I don't know of any Subaru/Mitsubishi that stores rev limiter events either.

Certain cars like R35 GTR's do store more information, but that would be the minority.

The way I look at it is everyone would be happy to buy a 2nd hand car, but the word 'demo' scares them. In the performance car game, does anyone honestly think one would be driven less hard than the other?

Just like all 2nd hand cars, get it inspected if you are unsure.

I always try and buy new, would rather be the one stuffing it up than possibly inheriting somebody elses handiwork....

And the Subaru dealer said "drive it however the f**k you want mate, she's ready to go". Good enough for me!

Would love to hear from a dealership about how they came to this conclusion.

I do know in RAM certain values are kept.. but nothing about how many times limiter was reached.
