Out of duty of care you would think by now that all vehicles be fitted with GPS based speed limiting devices.

Atleast you would think manufacturers would have the speedo read from a GPS. More accurate than normal speedos during to modifications made, wear and tear etc.

It will never change. Despite being proven to be a revenue raising exercise, its make the government money and therefore will remain.

Are you talking about public roads here?

You do realise we are in Perth, and 99% of the drivers on the roads are completely arrogant, pig headed arseholes who believe that they are the only one on the road and everyone else owes them something?

This is half the reason the speed limits are so low. We have shit drivers, hundreds of thousands of them.

The irony of all this is that the "hoon" drivers never obey a speed limit anyway. It could be 60, 50, 40, 30 or less they will always drive like a maniac near grandmas house and no matter what the limit is reduced to it won't make a ounce of diference to them..
All it does is mean that the average driver has a longer journey time wise and runs the risk on being fined for what in the case of the 50 zones was considered a totally fine speed to do a few years ago... (in older cars as well)

you obviously have no idea how GPS works to interperlate speed based upon phase carrier wave that are getting sent from outside the earth to a accuracy of 1-5 metres?

all GPS systems use a algorithm based upon recieved data and predicted future course...

but i highly doubt anyone cares... just keep believing tomtom and mr navman...

The 50 zones are annoying. In my area you have the main entrance road, its wider than usual but still only single lane and houses on either side. 50 there but anywhere else it'd be 60. Then some tiny road is also the same limit where 50 seems a bit much.

All built up residential areas are 50.

There are kids, families, dogs, people running on foot paths.

Dunno about you but i'd rather not end up on the news being responsible for killing a kid and dealing with the long term ramifications!

Just relax mate. Haven't you seen those ads on tv? Enjoy the ride?

Here is a link: Office of Road Safety

Watch the movie.
