Easy, their speedo is calibrated with the radar, hence all the system does is see how fast they are going (by speedo) and then the radar will track the rate of change distance/time your car is heading towards them...just like a normal multinova

It isn't hard to be sitting on or around the speed limit and see someone pass you.
It also isn't hard to approximate whether or not some one is doing 10km/h, 20km/h, etc over the limit.

Assuming that police keep an eye out on the road for this, one would expect them to be more accurate in approximating a speed compared to the average Joe Bloggs.

Some useful info.

Police Radar Laser & Speed cameras in Western Australia, detectors, jammers, fines

Quote:
The dash mounted Golden Eagle by Kustom Signals is similar to the hand-held radar above, operating on K-band. When the police officer is driving down the road "shooting" at on-coming traffic he is doing it in two ways; "constant on" or "instant on". In constant on, the radar beam is constantly transmitting down the road. When an oncoming car enters the radar's beam, a reflected signal is returned to the gun, and a speed is displayed on the unit.
I'll let you read the rest.

This thread is pointless. Doesn't matter where you're speeding, you are still speeding. If you can't help yourself sell your car and get one with cruise control.. If you already have it, try using it.

IMHO you speed you take your chances. Sometimes you win sometimes you loose.
Having said that I often drive at what I'll say is the speed I feel correctly reflects the road condition...
And am constantly amazed by the seemingly random speed limits imposed on Perth roads. Case in point Hepburn Ave 80km/h - Beach Rd 70km/h. Both roads are virtually identical so why the speed difference??

PLENTY of examples of shitty posted speed limits around Perth/Australia.

Alexander Drive between Ocean Reef Rd/Gnangara Rd and Hepburn Ave lights is my biggest gripe.
70 km/h it is, and yes they always have speed cameras on it.

Should be 90 (or at the least 80), 2 lanes each way, island in the middle, no houses, pedestrians or businesses?

Have I been caught there? No

If i am caught there will I start a thread about it and complain because i was doing what i thought was a safe speed? No.
TROLLEY, Soksta, Duffman and 1 others like this.
