hey,
i own an 06 GU patrol with the grenade ( 3.0 ltr turbo diesel ) engine in it.
the 4.2 turbo diesels in both patrols and cruisers are ridiculously overpriced IMHO
if you want a 4wd machine get the patrol but if you prefer to go on long drives etc i think the cruiser is a better option.
the cruiser have weaker CVs and driveline than patrols but like people pointed out the patrol's barn door and rear chasis where the rear springs sits are known to crack from overload so you need to look out for these things.

seagull how much do you charge if i want one of them for my patrol?

That looks the goods Seagull! I work for/with Nissan and that looks better than most of the "factory" items i see

Good ifno gents! Yeah Ive noticed how the landcruisers 4.2TD hold their value so much! well, they are stupidly expensive to start with...

Matt, your 96, is it in good nick? kms etc? Could be interested but was really after something a bit newer.. What are you replacing with?

Its pretty good (as they say, for its age) relatively low kms for an 80 series at ~290k. I have a work car and other tow vehicles available to me, it very rarely gets used, 3-4000km a year at most so its just money sitting on my front lawn basically.

I will get a patrol 4.2TD inter-cooled(earlier one came non inter-cooled), if they are maintained well, they will out last the chassis easy. They also hold their value because Nissan dont make them anymore and more so because they are such a good japanese built engine. If i had one ill get it tuned with more boost and open up the injector pump. The non common rail or common rail 3.0i are rubbish. Or if you have spare coins, turbo a 4.8i petrol and go nuts

I work @ Nissan so i could be bias.
