Without having owned a GC8 i think the options in order of cheapness would be:

- Power FC
- Autronic/Link
- MoTeC

- Microtech (over east, maybe not to good)

Probably a few other options in there however i'd be factoring in 2 or 3 grand into the price of the purchase if you were going ahead with it for a new ecu/tune/few extra mods So you're not driving around in a hand grenade.

Yes you can tune the ECU, just not in WA

Can i suggest you look through some of the stickies for ecu tuning (ie who can do what and where)
RMS don't do the stock ecu remapping
You can ecutek it but it can't be done locally

Suggest you opt for a Power FC ECU

Running lean has nothing to do with the injector size or fuel pump - the stock ecu is programmed to run at set range and if you change hardware, then those range won't be valid anymore, ie your goalpost moved. VF34 is a bigger turbo, running 1bar on it and a TD04 is not same same and the ignition timing, etc is set for the TD04, not the bigger turbo

Even if the car is running rich initially, its not something you want to depend on forever, as all it might need is one variable to go wrong and the ECU's safety factor can't help it anymore

2/3k is a worst case scenario just to be sure It would probably be less. You just need to be sure that with the mods the car has the tune is alright, that's all.

A quick run down to ASG with a Lambda sensor would confirm the AFR's at least in the interim.
