Hi, I bout my B4 a few months ago and I've done some scrounging online to discover that a reflash is recommended as it will eliminate knocking/gain 20-30KW. But I've also heard that it needs to be done by a person experienced with the B4's engine as a bad tune WILL kill the engine.

Now, I just really don't know who to go to; people tell me that EcuTek is the only option and other people tell me that EcuTek will wreck my engine and with Perth being such an isolated little corner of nothingness we don't really have the option that people overseas have.

Tl;dr: Are there any persons/companies in Perth that are 100% competent with reflashing the B4 and how much will it cost?

Any of the shops in the workshop section in this forum should be ok -
some do new chips, some do reflashes, some do both.
note - I do not own a B4.
For my ride, I use West Racing in Osborne Park, well that's me.
A new chip or reflash would need to be done together with a tune -there is a tricky deadspot with that motor to overcome.
Be prepared for the advice to take out the 2 turbos and replace with a single.

I've heard of the whole 1>2 debate, but I'm really not looking to make big power, just a bit more usable power.

Or the other bit of best advice going around, Sell it and buy an STI.....

Personally I would speak to the boys at ASG and see if they have done the B4's before. If yes then that's who I would be heading to.

Taking the 2 turbos out of a B4 is removing part of the DNA that makes a B4 a B4, if u dont want the 2 turbos, get a GT-B or a wrex. U can reduce the gab the 2 trbos have with reflash and tune but if not done perfectly it will reduce engine life. You could try ringing up STechnic, they may have some advice as they deal only in subaru, mostly the performance ones (STi's, WRX's, GT-B and im sure the occasional B4). Have their own rally subby they compete in so yeah give em a ring and see what they say. If u remove the twin turbo setup, its aint a B4 anymore just know that :P I rather keep my B4 with its twins, makes it what it is

I'm sure most work shops who have worked with the twin turbo setup would advise to rid yourself of the aids and convert to single... plenty of how to write ups on the Liberty club forums (RSLC) Just start collecting all the necessary parts

The 2nd/3rd gen liberty are a good chassis in my opinion. Great feel to them, and nice to drive. Never driven a b4 but I can't see how it's twin turbo has an advantage over a single turbo, it sounds like a flawed concept, too hard to tune...

It's certainly a flawed concept but removing it and converting to single is an expensive and complex procedure. Not something I'd recommend unless you really want to go the whole hog. I'm not certain that anyone in Perth will be able to make decent gains from tuning the B4. MRT used to advertise that they could cure all it's faults with a tune (or at least vastly improve it) Possibly Maximum MS will have access to MRT's tunes?
