I've heard a few people say it,read it and an example I heard was on a gc8 you could put a pod filter on with no issues but on a betty it would run rich/lean? because the ecu could not change the air to fuel ratios without a proper tune??

Well what ever happened Cat..really sorry that your dream has been cut short.
By the sound the dream has not ended there....research and do your cost comparison with rebuild and upgrading. Best of luck with the project.

No shit, I'd be demanding dyno results, that fucking thing could have been tuned for anything, you just don't throw something like that into a different car without a complete re-tune, stock computers are fine but aftermarket is a different kettle of fish all together, they will not re-learn anything, someone's been filling your head with shit.
Did you phone Fats and tell him what happened and ask if he thought it was right considering the trouble you'd had from the start ??? Small claims tribunal.

I'd be asking a few questions for sure, who knows the workshops might offer to help, but SCT won't give a rats Last edited by Sharpy.au; 04-04-2013 at 11:35 PM. |

Since when has anyone in history offered a warranty on a second hand ecu tuned by god knows who thrown straight into a car without check?
Unless that was the specific advice given? If it was tuned in Japan than it would of been full of timing (as they almost always are) leading to ping no doubt. By the time you heard the first rattle it was all over, so dont feel bad about grinding it into the ground. And no, its not bad luck. It is bad decisions diluted with mis information and lack of research.

Swapping an programmable ecu and not getting it tuned or Atleast inspected is asking for Trouble, no matter how similar the 2 cars were. It's a shame that you've put so much time and effort in.put a 207 into it and live happily ever after

Keep it, build it slowly on a budget exactly the way you want and purchase something a little newer as a daily. Save it for skid pans, drags, cruises etc.
