Unhappy Le Fail Le Fuel Pump.

So went to the drags and did a few runs. Couldn't beat my previous best, which I thought was odd seeing as better tyres and more power should mean faster... However on the way home the car started to run like a pig and would not hold full boost.

The car would spool and then slowly lose power, not a sudden/violent action like boost/fuel cut but more like a boost leak. So plugged the COBB back in on the way home and went through the live data and made a crappy discovering (luckily on only the 2nd pull).

My Fuel Pressure was not holding at all and was struggling to hit 1BAR in any gear so called Allen at EDGE Autosport and gave him all the details, what happened, the conclusion; aftermarket fuel pump internals are farked.

So new Autotech Internals ordered with express postage and should be here on Monday and hopefully install them the same day or Tuesday. Cannot thank EDGE enough for the advise and quick order, but this is nothing out of the ordinary for these guys

So it will be a shitty few days of limping the car to and from work (only 9km each way). I will post picture of old internals if any viable damage is found and I will be following up with the manufacturer.

Shit, at least you made it home without needing a tow and the bad times could be because of the track, the first couple of weeks it was shit and a few people were sliding everywhere.

I was only 8km away from home when it started to act up.

Yeah the mechanical pump in the engine bay that pressurized the fuel.

So was trouble shooting a few ideas from OZMPS and I went to make sure the car would idle (to rule out the in-tank pump being faulty) and the pump sounds like marble in a tin can

Pulled it out and refitted stock internals on stage1 and now it holds pressure fine, but the cause seemed to be the circlips.

One of them was in the spring the other was bearly in place. This has caused serious damage to the internals but luckily no damage to the pump itself.

Photo to reference the spring and the top where the circlips should be.

So good news!! Pump is here...

...but, this part has failed so I have organised a warranty repair and the pump will be going in after that.

Not a good week for this car, it has been idling iffy the past few starts and could not find any leaks, then spotted it. The actuator controls internal throttle body valves in the intake manifold.

So it will be another 2-3 days before the car is back in working order and I install the the pump.
