anyone had much experience with the std coilovers and there comparison to stock in terms of ride harshness

One begs the question of what is it you want to achieve?
Do you want a lowered ride, firmer ride, adjustability, etc.

Haven't dealt with STD before, but have used a set of HSD coilovers for about 20,000 km.
If I went down that path again, I wouldn't have gotten coilovers when there were some other decent packages around (i.e. strut/spring packages).

lowered ride dont mind it abit firmer the adjustability would be preferable
