I mean for a mid level mod would have to give similar bang for buck if not better than the normal injector , turbo, tune mod. Just go flextune and injectors. Lowers combustion temps , higher Knock properties, add more timing a touch more boost winning

I think flex fuel sensor kits are available from Prospeed for around the $800 mark. I'm not confident enough to trust one as I feel they're still new technology and would be bordering on experimentation by fitting one (mind you, any more risky than getting tunes by certain workshops or building an engine?).

Flex fuel sensors have been around for at least 10 yrs just not in Australia places like the US and Europe My daily a 2006 AH Astra has a factory GM flex fuel sensor states different power outputs in the handbook for different fuels used and states that the car has a flex fuel sensor fitted.

They must have some decent tolerance built into them in terms of dealing with fuel mixtures that are less than ideal (eg. bad batches, etc). My worry is that small shit like sensors can "just go" for no reason and it would be a pretty catastrophic event if it did

The idea of it is there are different maps in relation to ethanol percentage in 10 % stages or 20% or whatever the tuner wants to do the highest they usually go tuning wise is 80% then a map say for 70% that has redctions in boost and timing then 60% right down to 0% which would be your bp98 tune .
Thats the whole idea of the sensor its not just switching between an ethanol map and petrol map its percent of ethanol. So it takes into account bad batches.
